Ep. 089 -Mars landing, the race back to the moon, WandaVision and more
Monday Mar 01, 2021
Monday Mar 01, 2021
A lot has happened in the world of tech since our last episode and we break it all down in this one. We discuss the recent landing on Mars, the tech behind it and what it means for future visits. Bob & Kevin then transitioned into how the moon plays into all this and speculated on the upcoming race back to the surface of the moon and what that could mean for conflict outside of Earth's atmosphere. We covered a lot, but we hope you enjoyed it.

Well, we are going to be trying some new things heading into the new year, but not really. You see, for those that are new to the Bob & Kevin Show, you may not know that we used to be a LIVE show on YouTube a couple of years back. Well, we think we are going to try that all again, but with a twist! Some episodes will stream live out to YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, and Twitter... but ALL episodes will be available on the podcast platforms... so, we hope you dig it!
We discussed the transition of the POTUS Twitter account this week and of course some other goodies.

In this episode, Bob & Kevin discuss some of the interesting tech innovations that have been introduced during this time of COVID-19. The focus was on innovations around Zoom meetings and OBS Studio. One of the more exciting highlights is https://obs.ninja.
Bob & Kevin shared some things they have learned from their co-workers about working from home and work-life balance.
On the lighter side of things, Bob & Kevin talked about the new feature updated from Twitter, which they are calling Fleets. Have you fleeted yet?

Monday Sep 28, 2020
Monday Sep 28, 2020
In this episode, Bob & Kevin welcome our first paid sponsor - https://baty-barr.media to the show... well, technically, Josh has been our producer, editor, and engineer for a few episodes now, but this week he PAID US! Then, of course, we paid him to produce this week's show... LOL
Anyway, back to the episode description... Bob & Kevin discussed the recent tweets and discussions around the twitter cropper and racial bias and then shifted to the main topic of conversation GPT-3 (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) - a language-based General AI. Take a listen and find out all the ways it has been used thus far in a limited beta program and get our thoughts on where this tech might be headed.

Monday Sep 14, 2020
Monday Sep 14, 2020
In this episode, Bob & Kevin discuss the newly released, Netflix, documentary "The Social Dilemma" (https://www.netflix.com/title/81254224). If you have not watched it, we strongly encourage you to do so. Topics covered range from AI to social engineering and the impact that social media has on our world today and its threat to freedom as we know it.
Shortly after the show was recorded, this article was posted to Medium and we think it adds some great flavor to the discussion: https://medium.com/@jeff_seibert/the-mechanics-and-psychology-behind-the-social-dilemma-719d618aa8ce

Monday Aug 03, 2020
Monday Aug 03, 2020
In this episode, Bob & Kevin take a look at cancel culture and debate if it is fact or fiction. We found some very interesting definitions of cancel culture and discussed what (if anything) actually constitutes being #cancelled.

Things in the world are heavy right now, we get that. The Bob & Kevin Show is listening and we strongly believe that Black Lives Matter. We are also laser-focused on the impact companies like Facebook and Twitter have on the collective social and political mood of not just our nation, but the world. In this episode, we discuss some of Facebook's and Twitter's reactions and responses to world events addressing racial equality and some of the garbage being posted to social media by "dear leader" - you know the orange guy we are talking about!

BREAKING NEWS!
Yup, just the day before President Trump's history-making, executive order related to social media giants like Twitter and Facebook, Bob & Kevin were already discussing the implications of Trump's tweets being labeled as "fact check required". In fact, the boys even played out a couple "what if" scenarios - how accurate were they? Take a listen and find out!
Oh, they talked about puzzles in the pandemic and Joe Rogan's big Spotify deal as well (weird, right?)

Pop quiz for you Bob & Kevin Show listeners - when was the last time you COMPLETELY read a terms of service agreement for a website or software you have used? Yeah, we don't think we ever have either. Enter the hero of our story (sort of) https://tosdr.org/!
Yup, this site has a plugin that we eventually determined is quite helpful, but the site itself also gives you a quick snapshot of how crappy most companies are about their terms of service. Anyway, check it out and let us know what you think.
We also took some time at the beginning of the episode to discuss React JS and other javascript frameworks and how they impact front end web development.

Bob & Kevin discuss the recent flood of "list your security question answers here" types of social engineering social media posts that have been all over our social feeds in the recent "COVID lockdown era" and a few more topics related to social engineering, personal data leakage and more.
Amazingly, we actually feel like we DID solve some things in this episode, you will just have to listen to see what it is that we solved. In all seriousness, some good practical content in this episode (well at least we think so).

Ep. 066 - Social media and your mental health
Friday Feb 28, 2020
Friday Feb 28, 2020
In this latest edition, Bob & Kevin discuss the impacts of social media on our mental health. They also identify some common social media post types, give them names and discuss strategies on how to minimize the impact of social media on our health.
This episode was inspired by a conversation that Kevin recently had with an educator and by Bob's involvement as a school board member for the past two years.
Bob and Kevin also share some of their own experiences with social media and how it has impacted their mental health at times.
Let us know if you miss the full transcripts - or if you have better ideas how we should include them instead of just dumping them in the episode description. In this episode we celebrated our 50th! Sure we had about 30 or so YouTube Shows (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmOHJDCtT0THNKW49Ghxtmg) but can you believe we have recorded FIFTY podcast episodes!?!?!
We have been tackling some heavy topics lately on the show, so today we decided to talk some tech headlines and see where things took us.
We talked about the latest iteration of the Boston Dynamics Atlas robot - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlas_(robot) in addition to how the idea of the "personal brand" has evolved since we got in "the game".
We took a look at some recent press about podcast monetizing and the various options out there, plus much, much more! As always... if you want to leave us a comment, feel free to hit us up on twitter - https://twitter.com/bobandkevinshow

In this episode, Bob & Kevin discuss a planned neighborhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada being proposed by Alphabet (formerly Google) subsidiary, Sidewalk Labs. We discuss both the technological and non-tech innovations that are being proposed and discussed. It actually gets a little intense when Bob & Kevin discuss the application of the word 'utopia'. In addition to Quayside, we discuss new Twitter, a recent podcast from Land of the Giants (https://pca.st/V7d9) on the topic of the rise of Amazon Alexa and where the future may be. We wrap up the episode going over the list of all the companies that make up Alphabet - https://abc.xyz . This week, your dynamic duo of Bob & Kevin discussed Mr. Z's 4 simple rules - or the biggest corporate cop out we have seen in quite some time. Anyway, we digress. In addition to discussing the op ed that appeared in the Washington Post, we discussed the recent events surround Article 13, or is it now Article 17? Anyway, we talk master copyright databases mixed in with a little bit of Star Trek governmental wisdom and we finally end up talking about Google's ethics committee for AI that apparently can't even sit at the same table with each other. As usual, you can find us on twitter as the @bobandkevinshow and we are instagram as @bobnkevinshow (not sure why they limit those characters... grrr) - drop us a line! Join your favorite technology consumer advocates Bob & Kevin as they discuss Facebook giving us a real-time, Black Mirror prequel. Bob & Kevin also take a deep look at the "new monopoly" in tech, which is basically coming up with the most ubiquitous platform imaginable... hardware, software, original content... you know, what Apple is trying to become with the release of their fill in the blank plus original content platform. Oh, wow, guess what, this is also straight out of a potential Black Mirror prequel... have you seen 'Nosedive'? or watched our YouTube episode - https://youtu.be/wX-_GNGZXG8 ?

Ep. 031 - Boeing Software Update and Parody Twitter Accounts - yes you @DevinCow
Thursday Mar 21, 2019
Thursday Mar 21, 2019
This week might be one of our darkest episodes - at least early on. Bob & Kevin discuss the difficult subject of software and the recent Boeing tragedies. Unfortunately, the darkness carried on a bit when we discussed the responsibilities of tech/social giants like YouTube and Facebook in the wake of the New Zealand tragedy.
On an odd turn of events, we were able to look toward TWITTER to lighten the mood of the episode... all we can say is MOOOOOO! We closed things out with discussions around the recent Facebook outage and if we should have the rights to repair our super expensive cell phones.
We covered a lot, but we had some fun. Let us know if you liked what you heard! Hit us up at https://twitter.com/bobandkevinshow
Thanks,
Bob & Kevin

Ep. 024 - The gender dropdown discussion
Thursday Nov 15, 2018
Thursday Nov 15, 2018
I wish we could say we were sorry for the click bait, but one of the topics we covered tonight was the dropdown menu for gender. You will have to listen to the episode to hear how we covered it, but trust us... it is something worthy of discussion. We also discussed how our combined journalistic talents are on par with the rest of the world of tech news, in our humble opinions... LOL
As always, give it a listen and let us know what you think! Until next week...

Ep. 022 - Bob & Kevin catch up and cover all the random topics
Wednesday Oct 31, 2018
Wednesday Oct 31, 2018
We jump back into it this week after both of us have been crazy at work, traveling all over, and just dealing with everything that life has been throwing at the two of us the past couple of weeks. Don't worry, we still talk about twitter and facebook... we even discuss the new facebook video calling thingy??? What the heck is that all about anyway. Not gonna lie, we are both a little out of practice and we even forgot to really start AND end the episode... so, we hope you enjoy this completely raw and barely edited, very special episode. As always, feel free to hit us up on twitter (https://twitter.com/bobandkevinshow) and let us know what you think of the episode. Have a great week!

Ep. 001 - Bob and Kevin leave YouTube and start a podcast!
Saturday May 05, 2018
Saturday May 05, 2018
So, it looks like we are trying this #Podcast thing! The Bob & Kevin Show is dropping YouTube as our content platform in favor of doing a good ole fashioned podcast. On our first TRUE podcast episode, we talked about why we are leaving YouTube, how social media networks like FaceBook, YouTube, Twitter and more have monopolies and how there is virtually nothing we can do about it. Don't worry, we throw some shade toward eBay and Amazon as well... heck, we even do some Walmart bashing. We will still talk all things tech and entertainment moving forward... so sit back and enjoy a LISTEN to our new podcast!
